Zulfa Moves From Building the Factory to Preparing the Systems That Will Run It

It is not the same as watching a factory being built as it is watching it get ready to operate. We are beginning to reach that point at Zulfa Food Industries.
The buildings have been growing for months, doors and windows have been installed, the interiors are being finished, fuel tanks are being put in and teams are already designing the security and access systems that will be used once the facility is up and running.
Now you can walk around pieces of Zulfa and get a much better feel for what the finished facility will look like.
Inside the main buildings, the electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning, aluminium and roof-insulation work has been completed. The cafeteria is nearing completion. The Administration Building is completed for plastering and marble work and is now tiling.
Another noticeable change is the arrival of the factory’s doors and windows. They have been supplied by the Turkish contractor Patner Teknik and are ready to be installed. The buildings will be closed up on the outside, allowing for even greater focus to shift indoors, where finishing work is already well underway.
The fuel tanks have been lowered to their intended locations and will eventually be part of the factory energy supply system. At the same time construction debris is being removed, the facility cleaned thoroughly and workspaces prepared for the technical installations to follow.
Teams are even starting to consider how people will move and enter the factory once it is operational. The Al-Tour Company has recently met with Zulfa’s technical, operations, safety and security teams to start planning for surveillance and access-control systems. Future plans include installing cameras, thermal imaging devices, and fingerprint access points.
Constructing the walls is one thing. Someone else is preparing everything behind those walls so that hundreds of individual systems, spaces and people can eventually work together.
And, slowly, the conversation around the site is changing, but there’s work to be done. It’s less about what needs building and more about what needs operationalizing.
That’s a nice change to witness after watching Zulfa develop from a construction site into what it is today. The factory is not open yet but with each room finished, system installed and area of operation prepared it’s starting to feel much closer.
