Tosyali SULB Takes Its Next Big Step
More of the complex is now rising above ground after months of groundwork and foundation. Steel frames are going up around the site, buildings are starting to take shape and equipment is starting to move into position.
One of the biggest steps so far has been the completion of all the piling work. With that stage now complete, teams can now focus on the concrete and steel structures and operational buildings that will comprise the plant in the end.
Much of this progress is already apparent in many fields. The work in the Heat Recovery Area has been completed. Foundation and beam concrete works in the ASU Compressor Room have been completed. Teams are also working on the Pipe Rack, Raw Water Area, CDRI Passivation Silos, Main Compressor Building and Dust Collector F73.
Other parts of the complex are also moving forward. The concrete pours for the Cooling Towers and Cooling Gas Mist Eliminators have been completed, and steel columns and beams are becoming a much more common sight across the site. It is at this stage that the size of Tosyali SULB really becomes apparent. What was a large construction site only yesterday is starting to look like the industrial complex it will become.
The work is getting more detailed, as well. Steel installation is ongoing in the Reduction Area, CDRI warehouses and electrical substations. Work is underway on the Main Control Building, Maintenance Building and electrical rooms for the future 220 kV substation. The installation of equipment is also underway in the Oxide Storage Area.
Now you can see it starting to come together. One building goes up, another area moves into finishing, equipment arrives and slowly all those little pieces start to make sense as one much larger project.
There are hundreds of engineers, technicians, contractors and support staff working in various parts of the complex with several areas progressing at the same time.
And that scale counts. Tosyali SULB is being constructed as more than just another industrial plant in Benghazi. The project is expected to boost the industrial sector in Libya and generate new opportunities for economic activity and employment as it develops.
