Building More Than What's Visible

All large industrial projects involve more than the structures you see on site. There is a lot of planning going on behind the construction so that when the time comes everything is ready to go for the project. That is exactly what our recent meetings in Egypt were about.
I supported Resolution No. 7 of 2026, which called for the dispatch of a specialized technical committee from Tosyali SULB to Egypt for additional discussions on the power station that will serve the Benghazi steel complex. The team met with representatives from General Electric, Sinosteel and Electrothrot to determine the technical requirements, implementation schedule and contractual arrangements needed to move forward with this part of the project.
The power station is one of the key elements of the overall development. Since a project of this scope requires a reliable energy source, it is important that every technical detail is thoroughly examined before construction commences. The meetings were an opportunity for all the partners to work through those details together and ensure everyone is still aligned on what the next steps are.
Most of the attention has naturally been focused on the construction underway in Benghazi but there is also work going on in meeting rooms, design offices and technical workshops. Those conversations may be less visible, but they’re just as important. They help to make sure the decisions made today will benefit the project for many years to come.
What I like about meetings like this is that you get the right people together at the right time. Involving partners in technical issues early on helps build a stronger foundation for all the rest. This is particularly important on a project of this size.
We will continue to work closely with our partners as plans develop. Every discussion, every agreement and every technical decision is approaching us to deliver a steel complex that will help Libya’s industrial future for generations to come.
